A full site refresh for a family and wedding photographer, bringing warmth, colour and a clearer visitor journey to her Squarespace site.
THE BRIEF
Katie Hanrahan is a family, newborn, and wedding photographer whose existing website no longer reflected her brand or supported her business goals. Despite steady ad spend driving traffic, visitors weren't sticking around, and the site's minimal black-and-white look had fallen out of step with the warmer, more personal direction she wanted to take. The brief was to rework the site's structure, visual identity, and content flow to feel more inviting, better showcase her portfolio, and guide visitors more clearly toward booking a session.

APPROACH
The process was built around iteration and close visual dialogue, testing colour palettes and font pairings side by side, then narrowing in based on Katie's reactions before committing to a direction. Video walkthroughs were used throughout to explain design choices and progress, giving Katie the context to give clear, confident feedback even around a busy shooting schedule. As the redesign came together, the focus shifted to making the site sustainable for Katie to manage herself: instructional videos covered how to swap out images, update galleries, and maintain the design system going forward, so she could keep the site feeling fresh long after handover.
