Squarespace website and customised ecommerce store for South African bronze sculptor Vincent da Silva.
THE BRIEF
Vincent da Silva is a renowned bronze sculptor based in South Africa. His work reaches a wide international market, and he was looking for a site migration, a site redesign and a customised ecommerce store. His WordPress site had become difficult to update and no longer reflected the quality of his work. He needed a site that felt as considered as his sculptures, was easy for him to manage, and let collectors around the world browse and order pieces with confidence.

APPROACH
Vincent was drawn to Squarespace because of its design aesthetic. He didn’t want to lose that minimal feel while adding a large body of work to the site. We designed a modern, asymmetrical layout that gives each sculpture room to breathe. Generous white space and large-format imagery let the detail and texture of the bronze come through.
A standard checkout didn’t suit the way Vincent sells, so we customised Squarespace’s ecommerce to let collectors place an order instead of buying instantly. Vincent can then confirm details such as edition, sizing and international shipping before anything is finalised.
Migrating from WordPress meant carefully moving and restructuring a lot of existing content. We organised his collections so visitors can browse his work easily, and we set up on-site SEO foundations to help his sculptures get found in search.
